The 54A Judicial District Court of Ingham County is located on the 6th Floor of City Hall at 124 W. Michigan Ave. in Lansing Michigan.

The Justices that serve for the 54A Judicial District Court include Judge Frank J. Deluca, Judge Patrick F. Cherry, Judge Hugh B. Clarke, Jr., Judge Louise Alderson, and Judge Charles f. Filice. The Honorable Frank J. Deluca currently resides over the court as Chief Justice.




The District Court is divided into three divisions: The Civil Division, The Criminal Division, and The Traffic Division. The responsibilities of each division are outlined below.


            Civil Division

All filings for general civil claims, not exceeding $25,000, landlord and tenant evictions, small claims less than or equal to $5,000, land contract forfeiture, claim and delivery actions, and weddings are handled within the Civil Division of the District Court.


Criminal Division

Maintains original jurisdiction over criminal cases involving a felony and District court misdemeanors. The Criminal Division is also responsible for criminal appellate assignments and appointments for indigent criminal defendants who necessitate court-appointed counsel.


Traffic Division

The law enforcement agencies of Ingham County give their traffic and municipal civil infraction citations to the Traffic Division of the District Court to be processed.
