Located in Western Michigan, Grand Rapids is Michigan's second largest city. European missionaries and fur traders first settled in the Grand Rapids area at the beginning of the 1800's. Nicknamed the "Furniture City," Grand Rapids was once known for its furniture production. Today, its economy is more economically diverse. Grand Rapids is also the home of The Gerald R. Ford Museum and the Meyer May House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.
